Tour cost: $2,799.00   limited to 8 guests
Aug 18 – 23, 2019
Explore the Wild and Wonderful
Day 2: Mon August 19, 2019  Full Day Grand Teton NP.    B,L
We’ll spend all day exploring Grand Teton NP. The best time to view wildlife is at dawn and dusk when the animals are
more active and there are less people around. The day begins with early sunrise wildlife viewing, quiet and peaceful, at
Schwabachers Landing, off the beaten path.  The reflection of the Teton Mountains in the still, flat water of the Snake River
is majestic, making this a prime spot for photos and the abundance of wildlife here is extraordinary.

Afterward visit the rustic log Chapel of the Transfiguration which sits on a rise just within the southern entrance of Grand
Teton National Park. A large window behind its altar frames the magnificent beauty of the Teton Mountain Range. Also visit
the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, a rustic log chapel on the shores of Jackson Lake among the pines.

Enjoy lunch at Jenny Lake Lodge and then take a scenic boat ride on Jenny Lake to Cascade Canyon, Hidden Falls and
Inspiration Point. Return to Jackson and overnight at 49’er Inn and Suites.
Day 3: Tues August 20, 2019  AM Grand Teton’s and afternoon Yellowstone  B,L
Check out of the hotel early and head back into Grand Teton for some morning wildlife viewing.
One of the most scenic Grand Teton vistas is also one of the richest for wildlife, with moose wading in the wetlands,
hundreds of species of birds  and many other critters dropping by for a drink or graze.

Continue on to Jackson Lake before we travel up to Colter Bay for an easy walk / hike out on one of the
points of the bay.  This area is teaming with wildlife and fantastic views across the lake.

After lunch at West Thumb/Grant Village, we continue into Yellowstone National Park and visit West Thumb Geyser Basin
situated along the shores of Lake Yellowstone. The raised boardwalk is an easy 3/8 mile walk which leads to several great
views of the basin’s hydrothermal features, including Abyss Pool.

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone will take your breath away!
As I took in the scene, I realized my own littleness, my helplessness, my exposure to destruction, my inability to cope
with or even comprehend the mighty architecture of nature..
..Nathaniel P. Langford, 1870

The Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River add to the grandeur of this unique natural treasure. Experience the
canyon from a variety of overlooks from trails and walkways along the rims and down partway into the canyon. Learn
about the Shoshone Indians and early explorers who first inhabited this land

Finish today with Sunset Wildlife Watching at Hayden Valley in central Yellowstone. This broad valley is called Bison Central
for the large herds grazing and lounging along the wide Yellowstone River that runs through it. It’s also a good place to
look for coyotes, waterfowl, grizzly bears, moose and the highlight of Yellowstone…wolves.

After some incredible wildlife viewing, check into our beautiful location at
Canyon Lodge located within Yellowstone
National Park for the next 2 nights. Dinner at Canyon Lodge (not included).
Day 4: Wed August 21, 2019   Full Day Yellowstone   B,L
We spend all day exploring more of Yellowstone beginning with Morning Wildlife Watching back at Hayden Valley.  Then
explore Norris Geyser Basin, Gardiner Valley and arrive at Mammoth Hot Springs for lunch.

Mammoth Hot Springs are a must-see feature of Yellowstone National Park. At Mammoth Hot Springs, you can spend some
time strolling around the terraces. Or, explore the area’s historic district, which include Fort Yellowstone and other structures
from the 1800s and early 1900s when Yellowstone was first established.

Continue to Tower Falls. Black bears are commonly seen in the meadows and Grizzly bears can often be spotted in as well.
End this fantastic day with sunset / dusk wildlife viewing in Lamar Valley in northern Yellowstone along the Lamar River.

Lamar Valley is called “America’s Serengeti” for its large and easy-to-see populations of large animals. Among its most
famous inhabitants are the Junction Butte and Lamar Canyon wolf packs and a good time to spot them is toward evening. In
addition to wolves, other animals roaming the Lamar include large herds of bison, elk, pronghorn, badgers, grizzly bears,
bald eagles, osprey, deer, and coyotes.

We will stop for dinner (not included) at Roosevelt Junction before returning to Canyon Lodge and overnight.
Join me on a privately guided tour and explore the Wild Places in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks as we
ventureoff the beaten trail and see parts of the parks most visitor’s never see. Both parks are works in progress for they
are living, breathing wilderness area’s with a life force and energy all their own.

The magnificent mountains of the Teton Range and Grand Teton National Park, established February 26, 1929, are a young
range of old pre-Cambrian granite, abrupt and sharp-edged as they knife up from the Snake River valley. Many visitors
regard Grand Teton National Park as a Masterpiece -- with its shimmering lakes, thickly carpeted forests, and towering
peaks blanketed with snow throughout most of the year. Grand Teton impresses many people as more dramatically and
immediately scenic than its northern neighbor, Yellowstone.

Yellowstone, as our first national park established on March 1, 1872 still holds the allure and vast Wildness that speaks to
the Soul. Called The Place of the Yellow Rock Water this was the wild land that Native Americans called home, their place of
spiritual sustenance, 10,000 years before the Pilgrims arrived. Explore Yellowstone listening for the howl of the wolf, looking
for bears and buffalo, elk and eagles and other wild creatures who cross your path.

Day 1: Sun August 18, 2019 Arrive Jackson, WY.    Welcome Dinner
Upon arrival in Jackson a private van will transfer you to the hotel in downtown Jackson. After checking in and getting
settled in your room, you are free for the day to explore town with others in the group.  Epic is often used to describe
Jackson and for good reason. This quaint Old West town most certainly extends beyond the usual or ordinary in a variety of
ways. Spend the afternoon exploring all the shops and art galleries or take a stagecoach ride in downtown Jackson, WY.
Group Welcome Dinner at one of the many fantastic restaurants in Jackson
.Overnight 49er Inn and Suites Jackson
Day 5: Thurs August 22, 2019  Full Day Yellowstone   B,L
This morning we check out of Canyon Lodge and spend the day exploring more of Yellowstone as we head south back to
Jackson, WY.  Explore the Madison River Valley, Firehole Geyser Basin, Grand Prismatic Springs, and end at Old Faithful area
where we can see some of the Artists Paint Pots and enjoy Lunch at Historic Old Faithful Lodge.

Have your camera ready to get that perfect photo of Old Faithful erupting. Height can vary from 100-180 feet. Eruptions
normally last between 1.5 to 5 minutes. The famous geyser currently erupts around 20 times a day and can be predicted
with a 90 percent confidence rate within a 10 minute variation. The ranger station tracks the time, height and length of an
eruption to predict the time for the next eruption.

After the excitement of Old Faithful, return to Jackson, WY and overnight at 49’er Inn and Suites or similar. Enjoy your last
night and dinner (cost not included) at one of the great restaurants in town.
