Hiking, scenic viewpoints, local eateries, hidden gems and other fantastic experiences await! This tour will take you to mountain peaks, the rims of towering cliffs, and deep into narrow canyons carved through time. You will awe in wonder at the arches, spires, and hoodoo rock formations. Expansive vistas will overwhelm you with grandeur and add contrast to exploring the confines of narrow, twisting slot canyons. At night, take in the clean desert air under a canopy of stars as you reflect on the highlights of your day.
Day 1: May 15, 2022
Arrive at the SLC Airport and transfer to the hotel on your
own by taxi, uber or airport shuttle. The rest of the day is free to explore Salt Lake City.

Depart Salt Lake City, UT at 7:00 am and travel to Canyonlands National Park, known for its dramatic desert landscape carved by the Colorado River. Hike to Mesa Arch for an up-close view of one of the most photographed arches in the Southwestern US. Explore the Grand Viewpoint and hike along the rim of the Island in the Sky, a huge, flat-topped mesa with panoramic overlooks. An early-morning hike brings you to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park; continue on a hike to Landscape Arch, one of the longest natural arches in the world. Also visit the Windows Section and Double Arch. Be awed by the beauty of this park that guarantees sights of just what you might expect; over 2,000 impossibly natural arches grace the landscape of this place that boasts rich textures, rocky layers and swirling colors. Peer through the arches like a window or a picture frame, and watch the blue sky collide with the deep reds, oranges, and purples of the land. A scenic drive/hike along the Colorado River showcases ancient petroglyphs depicting animals, humans, and geometric patterns carved onto red-rock walls.

Explore the mystical landscape of Goblin Valley State Park which is unlike any other in Utah. The landscape, covered with sandstone goblins and formations, is often compared to Mars. Visitors come to this section of the San Rafael Desert to explore the thousands of mushroom-shaped pillars resembling stone “goblins”, which give the park its name.
Continue to Capital Reef National Park and delve into the narrows of Sulphur Creek or Grand Wash. Capitol Reef park is famous for its Waterpocket Fold, known as a wrinkle in the earth that was caused by fault movement. Native Americans once called this colorful park landscape of tilted buttes, jumbled rocks, and sedimentary canyons the Land of the Sleeping Rainbow. Hike to the Hickman Bridge, a 133-foot natural bridge, or go down to the Grand Wash to explore the park’s deep canyons and narrows. Hike to Sulphur Creek Overlook and enjoy the Panoramic Point overlook.

Traverse the Canyons of Escalante Grand Staircase on your drive to Bryce Canyon National Park. Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument is phenomenal. Marked by vertical drops at the Pink Cliffs, Grey Cliffs, White Cliffs, Vermillion Cliffs and Chocolate Cliffs. Sun-drenched Utah backcountry spreads out well beyond the visible horizon from the road as you travel along the The All-American Road: Scenic Byway 12. This area boasts a mixture of colorful sandstone cliffs soaring above narrow slot canyons; picturesque washes and seemingly endless slickrock.
Upon arrival at Bryce Canyon National Park, spend some time meandering along the Sevier River through the Hoodoos of Bryce Canyon.

Continue on a short drive to Zion National Park along scenic Highway 12, which zips past red-rock mountains and yawning slot canyons. Zion National Park: Known for its slot canyons, soaring towers and monoliths, and scenic sandstone, is full of unique formations begging to be explored. Find yourself in awe as you wind through the magnificent canyon walls and towering cliffs that make up this majestic park. Hike the East Canyon Overlook Trail for a bird’s-eye view of the canyon and delve into the 150-million-year-old history of Zion canyon’s geologic formations.

This morning explore more of Zion and traverse the 3-mile Emerald Pools loop to see a trio of pools and waterfalls. Hike and explore the Narrows of the Virgin River before you return to Salt Lake City by 6:00 pm.
